BPOM- passcode to success

Registration process for food, drinks and medicines in Indonesia takes time, energy and patience. Lots of patience. Get ready for a lengthy and confusing process. Your company will be asked for countless documents related to your brand, how you produce goods, ingredients and sourcing of raw materials, packaging, formula for each product and many more:)

Foreign companies entering Indonesia for the first time do not understand that registering products with the Indonesian authorities regulating food, drink and medicines (BPOM) is one of the longest processes in Asia, if not in the World. Your company will have to present local authorities with GMP issued for your production facilities. If not, your products won’t be able to enter Indonesia. This is just a tip of the iceberg and the list of the papers you will have to present to BPOM is very long.

Even if your company is ready with all papers , the whole process will take 9-12 months the shortest. Some of the companies register their products with BPOM for over 3 years. Some even more.

Only when you and your team are sure you can afford (time and money) such lengthy process you should start the whole process. Otherwise you will get frustrated.
