Halal Certification in Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest muslim nation in the World. Over 85% of its two hundred and seventy milion citizens are followers of the Islam religion. As a result, great number of potential customers seek for products that are muslim friendly and ideally that have Halal certificate. At this moment, Indonesia is in a transition period of moving certifying products with Halal standards from muslim associations into government bodies. Such a transition period is expected to end in 2024 and until then regulations are unclear on which body in Indonesia is supposed to award Halal certifications. For a time being we have been informed by the government bodies that Halal certifications issued in other countries will be honoured in Indonesia until year 2024. We keep our eyes open and monitor updates in this very important matter. When offering mass products it is expected that producers will have Halal certifications. This improves sales and helps customers to trust imported products.
