Indonesia and COVID-19

As many countries are experiencing lock downs and economical struggles related to COVID-19, Indonesia is no different.

Schools have been closed since March and will remain closed until Christmas. Indonesian government has not been able to confirm when kids and teenagers will be able to go back to school.

Jakarta has experienced lockdown in April and May and in October many places have been closed again.

Indonesian GDP is predicted to decrease around 5% in the current year and slow recovery is expected in the upcoming years 2021 and 2022.

Based on the market reports of Nielsen Indonesia four industries heavily impacted by the Covid 19 are: holidays businesses, electronic gadgets sales, entertainment and home improvement companies.

Food and beverage sales are presenting stable slow growth and are expected to remain on a high level for the upcoming months.

We hope that pandemics will be over soon and business won't be badly affected by never ending lockdowns.
